Russian-Italian Forum events were held in Krasnodar on 8 April, the Forum having started the day before in Moscow
The second day of the Russian-Italian Forum took place in the regions. One of the five most promising business routes brought the Italian delegation led by the First Secretary of the Embassy of Italy in Moscow, Lorenzo Fanara, to Krasnodar Region.
In the congress hall at the KrasnodarExpo exhibition centre an introductory conference was held, in which representatives of Italian and Kuban business took part. The aim of the conference was to present to delegates of the Forum the industrial, agricultural, and construction fields of the Kuban, and to make a presentation of the investment attractiveness of the region.
‘Italy is an old, reliable and important partner of the Kuban,' noted the First Deputy of the Head of the Administration of Krasnodar Region, Dzhambulat Khatuov, greeting conference participants. ‘In the relationship between Krasnodar Region and Italy today there is not only the interestedness of business partners, but also the warmth of good old friends. We help the Italian and Russian businessmen to find the shortest way to each other and to joint projects.'
The Mayor of Krasnodar, Vladimir Evlanov, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Krasnodar Region, Yuri Tkachenko, and Member of the Italian Parliament, Aldo di Biagio, appeared before the Forum participants.
They noted that over the last five years the foreign trade turnover of Krasnodar Region with Italy has increased by more than five and a half times, and last year exceeded €400 million. Krasnodar Region has established mutual relations with business circles in many regions in Italy: Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Calabria, and Lazio. In August 2008 an Honourary Italian Consulate was opened in Krasnodar.
For five years Krasnodar Region has presented to Italian business its investment opportunities. Over this time at forums and presentations dozens of agreements have been signed, including Agreements on bilateral cooperation between Krasnodar Region and Milan Province, and with the region of Calabria. A representation of Krasnodar Region is operating successfully in the regions of Lombardy and Reggio-Emilia. At the current time in the region approximately 20 companies are operating successfully with Italian investment, and a range of investment projects are also being carried out.
At the end of the conference the work of a themed section took place for separate fields of the economy.
In the events of the Russian-Italian Forum in Krasnodar representatives of 70 Italian companies from the industrial, construction, agricultural, banking, consulting sectors took part, various institutes of state support of Italian business, and also delegations from business in Sochi, the Region as a whole, and Rostov Region, in total approximately 300 participants. During the business meetings held each delegate of the Forum had the opportunity to present their business and find potential business partners.
