Krasnodar Region / External Economic links of the region's municipalities

Description of External Economic Links Development

 

The city of Krasnodar, towns of Anapa, Armavir, Gelendzhik, city of Novorossiisk, city of Sochi, Tuapse, and Belorechenskii and Tuapsinskii Districts played an active part in such presentations in 2007. In addition a number of municipalities took part in events of an all-Russia and international character such as:

  • the International Tourism Exhibition Inturmarket 2007 in Moscow from 18 to 21 March 2007 (Gelendzhik, Yeyisk, Temryukskii District, Tuapsinskii District);
  • Southern Tourism Forum in Krasnodar in December 2007 (Yeyisk);
  • First International Festival of Small Business in Moscow in October 2007 (Belorechenskii District);
  • annual Russian Agribusiness Exhibition Zolotaya Osen 2007 in Moscow from 11 to 14 October 2007 (Korenovskii District);
  • a study tour of construction of large animal raising complexes in Horsens, Denmark (Krasnoarmeiskii District);
  • the International Tasting Competition Zolotoi Grifon in Yalta (Temryukskii District);
  • the Travel and Tourism 2007 Exhibition in Moscow in March 2007 (Tuapsinskii District);
  • among others.

Delegations from Sochi made approximately 30 foreign trips, took part in various international events and carried out a range of meetings with delegations from Australia, Austria, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Canada, Singapore, the USA, Turkey, France, Sweden and Japan.

Work carried out in this direction brings its rewards. Today the main partner countries of the Region are Germany, France, Austria, Italy, Turkey and others. Firm confirmation of the growth of interest in Krasnodar Region was provided by the results of the VI International Investment Forum in Sochi: among the 10 000 Forum participants were representatives of foreign official and business circles, as well as diplomatic missions of foreign states in Russia from 36 European, Asian, American, African and Australasian countries; 132 investment agreements were signed to a value of approximately $17 billion; and foundations for future cooperation were laid.

Foreign government and business delegations, having expressed interest in the economic potential of the region, aim to visit the Region to study the prospects for bilateral cooperation in more detail, including:

  • the town of Kropotkin and the Department of Industry of Krasnodar Region held a meeting with representatives of the Turkish company Uzel Corporation, Mr Erdogan Duysen to examine the special industrial-manufacturing economic zone planned for the town, as well as a meeting with the Director for Development of the Turkish firm Kastamonu Integrated Wood Industry and Trade Company Mr Onur Guven on possible construction of a factory producing MDF;
  • in February 2007 Kalininskii District hosted a delegation of German representatives to discuss an investment project to construct a chemical warehouse in the District;
  • in May 2007 the Head of Kalininskii District visited Denmark to study experience of agricultural production;
  • Kuschevskii District and the Department of Agriculture and Industry of Krasnodar Region held a meeting with representatives of the company AL Khaleej Sugar (UAE) on construction of a sugar processing plant in Kuschevskii District.

The most intensive work has been carried out by the Administration of Sochi. During 2007 the resort city hosted approximately 70 foreign delegations. The result of their work is the active flow of foreign investment into the economy of the city, attraction of highly qualified specialists and consultants for realising projects on improving the infrastructure of the town, reform of the service industry and the acquisition by Sochi of international resort status.

The next step in the successful external economic activity of the Region is conclusion of agreements on cooperation and their realisation. A range of municipalities (Krasnodar, Anapa, Armavir, Gelendzhik, Eisk, Apsheronskii District, Belorechenskii District, Viselkovskii District, Korenovskii District, Krymskii District, Novopokrovskii District, Tbilisskii District, Tikhoretskii District) concluded contracts on construction and operation of projects and attracting investment, for example:

  • An agreement of intention between the Administration of Krasnodar and the Kuban-Gofman company on construction of a residential estate of cottage-type houses;
  • Agreement and Protocol on trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation between the Administration of Krasnodar and the People’s Government of Harbin town (North Korea);
  • An agreement between the Administration of Yeyisk and the Pisec Gesellschaft GmbH company on construction of a hotel on the Taganroskaya shore;
  • An outline investment agreement between the Administration of Krasnoarmeiskii District and the association Infokorp on lus and the Expotrade on construction of a megafarm for 1200 head of cattle;
  • An agreement between the Administration of Krasnodar Region and the French company Lafarge on construction of a cement factory with a capacity of 1.8 million tonnes of cement per year using raw materials from Krymskii District sources;
  • An agreement between the Administration of Krasnodar Region, the Administration of Krymskii District and the Turkish firm Anadolu Cam Sanayii AS on realising an investment project to construct and operationm a glass producing facility in Krymsk;
  • An agreement of intention between the Administration of Tikhoretsk and the German company Deutsch Russische Wirtschaffs on an investment project to build a factory producing low-level quick-building housing.
