External Economic Activity of Krasnodar Region in the context of developing the external economic contacts of the region’s municipalities
The favourable geographic position of Krasnodar Region with its access to the Black and Azov Seas, its high production, technological and financial potential and developed transport infrastructure is one of the main factors defining the promising nature of the region for dynamic development of external economic activity and attraction of foreign investment.
Further development of the economy of Krasnodar Region is directly dependent on the presence of stable links and multilateral cooperation, both with subjects of the Russian Federation and with foreign countries. Today the Administration, organs of executive power and municipalities of Krasnodar Region are interested in establishing productive contacts with Russian and foreign partners, attracting direct investment, organising markets for products, and creating joint enterprises.
One of the principles made in the strategy for socio-economic development of Krasnodar Region to 2020 is realisation of the Region’s potential as one of the key regions for forming growth areas in the South of Russia on a basis of mutually profitable inter-regional and international cooperation.
Realising the conception for forming and promotion of the image of the Kuban as an attractive region for investment, the Administration of Krasnodar Region is carrying out focussed work on activating international cooperation, strengthening and developing trade-economic links between the Region and subjects of the Russian Federation and with foreign states. Permanent links have been established with diplomatic missions and trade representations of the Russian Federation in a range of foreign countries. Above all these are countries of the CIS, Europe and Asia.
As participants of the Region’s delegations and using the experience gained in presentation activity, the municipalities of Krasnodar Region actively take part in preparation and execution of the largest international events such as Green Week (Germany) and MIPIM (France), and organise presentations of economic potential in Russian regions, Austria, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Turkey and other countries.
Practice has shown that participation of municipalities delegations in presentations of the region abroad, all-Russia and international scale events, carrying out bilateral and multilateral meetings and negotiations and distributing information about the economic potential of municipalities in the media is one of the main sources of information for potential investors.
Today the only forum where all 45 municipalities of Krasnodar Region can present their economic and investment opportunities to potential investors and partners at the same time is the International Investment Forum held annually in Sochi. From year to year the Forum confirms its high international status, thanks to which foreign business circles are able to assess the economic potential of Krasnodar Region, both in total and as separate entities within the Region.
In the future it is planned to expand the geography of international links, to develop external trade, and support in development of joint enterprises and cooperation in the field of financing investment projects in various spheres of activity, which will have a positive influence on the volume of import-substituting products and growth of production of fuel and energy sources. The technologies being introduced to the Region in realising projects are in many ways unique.
The Department for Investment and Project Tracking of Krasnodar Region plays an important role in developing future coordination in realision of municipalities’ investment projects in constant cooperation with the Administrations of the respective municipalities.
