Krasnodar Region is taking part in the 75th Green Week

On 15 January Green Week, the largest agricultural exhibition in the world, which expects to welcome its 30 millionth visitor this year, opened.

Opening the Russian pavilion, Vice Premier Viktor Zubkov noted that 16 regions from the Russian Federation were presenting not only their own products at Green Week, but also around 140 investment projects.

‘I am certain that these proposals will be in demand among our overseas partners, including representatives of German agribusiness,' said the Vice Premier. ‘The result of the harvest to a large extent depends on the sowing, and mutually beneficial cooperation begins with what we demonstrate at this agricultural forum and how we do it.'

The Kuban is taking part in the annual Green Week for the ninth time. The Region's delegation is led by the Vice Governor for Agricultural Policy Evgenii Gromyko. The collective display by Krasnodar Region, effectively designed in an original manner using views of the Kuban countryside and the ethnographic Ataman museum covers 1000 square metres, one sixth of the total area occupied by the Russian exhibition.

‘We decided this year not to reduce the area of the display and already we are seeing that we were right: in just the first hour's work in the pavilion, even before its official opening, the Region's display was visited by no less than fifteen hundred people,' noted Evgenii Gromyko. ‘There is a real hullabaloo at the displays of Kuban products. Our display is the largest, the most beautiful and the richest in terms of products represented.'

In the near future it is proposed to sign a whole range of agreements, and meanwhile the Kuban is convincing the German public of the high level of quality of its products not with words but by deeds. More than sixty Kuban businesses have brought sausage, cheeses, confectionary, wines, etc, to be sampled.

During the exhibition Medvedovskii Myasokombinat, Sochinskii Myasokombinat, Armavirskii Myasopererabativayuschii Zavod, Georgievskaya, Kaloriya, Kropotkinskii Molochnii Kombinat, Konditerskii Kombinat Kuban, Slavyanskii Konservnii Zavod, Abrau Dyurso, Maryanskii Risozavod, Miskhako and Dagomischai will be carrying out presentations of their products.

Promotion of products from regional producers on the foreign market is one of the main aims of the Kuban participating in Green Week 2010, along with attracting the attention of foreign investors to the Region and expanding business contacts for agribusinesses in the Region. The Krasnodar Region delegation's work at Green Week therefore also includes participation in the business events programme, visits to agricultural businesses to learn about the experience of German colleagues, and holding business meetings and negotiations.

As early as that morning the signing of the first investment agreement took place at the Krasnodar Region stand, between the Administration of Krasnodar Region, the Kuban confectionary factory, and the German Vener and Pfleiderer company. The agreement, which includes the setting up at the Kuban confectionary factory of a production line for biscuits ‘costs' €1 300 000.

That the signing of a further agreement, which will be very important for the Region, for construction in the Kuban of a second agricultural equipment factory by CLAAS, would take place became known after a meeting between the Vice Governor Evgenii Gromyko and co-owner of the company Catharina Claas with Vice Premier Viktor Zubkov.

Green Week 2010 in Berlin will continue until 25 January.
