From 14 to 15 June 2010 a joint seminar on strengthening regional cooperation in different fields between the subjects of the Russian Federation and representatives of business circles of the Turkish Republic in accordance with the decisions of the X meeting of the Russian-Turkish Joint Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation was held in Istanbul. The seminar was organized by the Committee of Foreign Economic Relations of Turkey (DEIK) in coordination with the State Secretariat for Foreign Trade of Turkey (DTM).
The Russian delegation included: Head of the Russian part of the Working Group on Trade, development of the legal basis and regional cooperation; State Secretary; Deputy Minister of Regional Development Y. Osintsev, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation V. Olersky, Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Turkey R. Batalov; as well as guidance of Federal State Unitary Enterprise “ROSMORPORT”; “Azov-transport company”; JSC “North-Western Shipping”; JSC “Volga Shipping Company”; JSC “Bank VTB”; “Azov-Don Shipping Company”, etc.
Representatives of administrations of the following subjects of the Russian Federation (Krasnodar region, Tatarstan, Karelia, Samara, Sverdlovsk and Rostov regions) participated in the seminar and presented the economic potential of their regions.
Krasnodar Region presented the Turkish audience their large investment projects. Turkish businessmen know our region and are active in the region in different fields (construction, industry, investment). Presented projects are also interesting to the potential investors.
The Turkish delegation included: Deputy State Secretary for Foreign Trade of Turkey Dzhemalettin Damladzhy, Chairman of Turkish-Russian business council DEIK Doct.Dzhem Kozlu, executives and representatives of the Union of Exporters of the East Black Sea region under the DTM, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Samsun, the Union of Marine and combined carriers, the International Union of Transport Workers and carriers, as well as representatives of business circles of Turkey in the fields of transport, construction, industry, shipping, trade and consumer sector.
The workshop meetings were held in the format of B2B. During the meetings the parties could review the proposals of each other, to explore potential areas of cooperation, exchange contacts and identify further steps for strengthening.
