Final conference of the German energy agency “Dena”

On 29 January 2010 a conference of the German energy agency “Dena” was held in Krasnodar. The topic of the conference was “Sochi: analytical report on Energy Efficiency of the Winter Olympics-2014”.

The main purpose of the conference was to present an analytical report on energy efficiency of the Winter Olympics - 2014 and discuss the possibilities of its practical application. The conference was attended by the Head of the Department for Fuel and Energy Complex of Krasnodar Region Vadim Lukoyanov, the Chairman of the agency “Dena” Stephan Kohler, representatives of the Legislative Assembly of Krasnodar Region, representatives of a number of sectoral departments of Administration of Krasnodar region and business circles of the Kuban and Germany.

According to a survey conducted by the agency “Dena” the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014 can be carried out without environmental damage. The concept proposed at the conference emphasizes the use of energy efficient technologies that reduce energy demand to a minimum.

- During the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi Russia has a real opportunity to achieve maximum results of energy balance, - said Stefan Kohler presenting the analytical report. - We face a difficult task. In case of its successful solution the results may serve as an example, applicable not only in Sochi and Krasnodar region, but also in neighboring regions. Energy efficiency reduces costs, facilitates innovations’ development and reduces the damaging effect on the environment.
